Children are also a priority at our church. Every Sunday morning Children's Church is available for kids in each of the services.
As a newborn believer, with a deep desire for the Lord, Rev. D. Mohan commenced his Christian journey in 1968.It was at the age of 21 that he gave his life to Christ. Then he began his ministry by preaching the word, having enrolled for Bible College at SABC, Bangalore. He was appointed to pastor a small church in Bangalore, part of a work study program. He continued as a Pastor for this small church at Bangalore for 2 years after his graduation.
Around this time, Rev. David Stewart requested Rev.D.Mohan to go to Chennai to build college ministry and a church in Chennai. Thus his vision to work among young people took shape. The first phase of his ministry began when he reached out and catered to the needs of the souls who were touched during a healing crusade. The Lord blessed him with a house which would serve the purpose of these new believers coming together as a family to worship God. Thus the NLAG church commenced with its first service in the year 1973 with a humble gathering of 7 believers.
Lord blessed the church with a new place for believers to
gather and the members increased to 50 through constant prayer.
As more and more people started pouring into the services, a
shelter was constructed where 600 people could be seated at a time.
God’s awesome power was at work and multitudes of people thronged into
the services.
Prayer continued to be an absolute vital aspect for the growth of NLAG. The YMCA Gym was opened up for services. One day as Rev.D.Mohan was walking on the road, the Lord said “Now is the time to stop praying for the land and start praising”. As the church continued praising God for a permanent place for worship, they were able to locate a place with the help of a person whom God had sent in the path of Rev.D.Mohan. Thus, a thatched roof structure was erected as a venue for worship on one of the main streets of Chennai called Mount Road, which could seat 700 people.
Nevertheless the ship wasn’t sailing serenely. The Church came across moments of despair en route this God given mission. The enemy was at work and the church faced many encounters of brutalities. If there was one incident of the shed being destroyed by heavy rains, then in another untoward incident, a spark of fire from the diesel engine used in the adjoining timber plant fell on the thatched roof thereby damaging the church. In spite of these heart breaking occurrences, the Church was able to overcome the viles of the evil one through tearful prayers.

into the church.The Church truly experienced the move of God in a new
dimension. As the scripture says in Acts 2:17(NIV) “In the last days,
God says I will pour out my Spirit on all people.” Today NLAG church
houses a congregation of 26000 believers with multiple services taking
place on different floors of the building. Separate services are being
conducted for the children, youth as well as the adults in different
languages. It is through the able guidance of 120 dedicated Pastoral and
administrative staff that the church is able to fulfill this vision.

NLAG was born out of prayer to glorify our Lord Jesus Christ thereby fulfilling the Great commission of making disciples. Rev. D. Mohan is the founder and Senior Pastor, ordained by birth to serve God to bring millions to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Faith in God and relentless prayers were the keys to fulfill this visionary passion. NLAG was entirely founded on faith and prayer. |

God has used NLAG church as an
instrument to bring glory to His name. The church that we witness today
in Chennai is the result of prayers and faith and stands as a testimony
